A recording that assumed three lives
The PvP gameplay recording still planned for three lives, while the game starts duels with two, so its final crash never reached the video. The recorder now reads the count from the game.
The gameplay recording script plays scripted duels and captures the result for the marketing videos. The PvP recording was scripted for three crashes, but a PvP duel starts with two lives. The game ended on the other player’s word, “rope”, before the scripted player’s final crash appeared, so the video stopped short of the ending it was built around.
Two lives in the game, three in the script#
The game’s starting lives for a duel are a shared constant. The recorder had its own number for the same rule, and that number was three, so the planned finale was built for a third crash that the game never allowed. Nothing failed loudly: the script ran to the end of its word list, and the video just ended early.
The fix removes the second copy. The PvP recorder and the dry-run tracer now read the starting lives from the same constant the game uses. The PvP script was also trimmed to twelve words per side, so the planned crashes are the last words on each side:
word crash
actor first life, wall on its last letter
dark final life
A dialog in the way of the clicks#
A second problem came from the same recording pass. The letters dialog appears once a day, on the first game of the day, and it blocked the scripted clicks on the board. The daily, AI duel and PvP recorders now dismiss that dialog before the first click.
The changed recorders pass the script’s dry run. The dialog dismissal has not yet been run in a real browser, and the next PvP re-recording is the check for it.
